Please provide a few sentences to sum up the most important aspects of your App.

This app is a new social media idea. It will run using Java and Google's app engine. You will be able to take pictures or videos up to 7 seconds off the app's camera platform, and you can upload them to the surrounding area's database. You can set a mileage on how far (1-7 miles) you want to see other people's oinks (pictures or videos that they uploaded). It works by using your phone's GPS and sets a radius around you. Sort of like how the popular app Yik Yak does it. People say it is similar to the app Fade, and I will agree it is. But this app will be for anyone in the surrounding area, not just for students of SIU. So yes, regular residents of Carbondale can use it too. You can also you use it back home as well, and I encourage you to do so!

It is great to see what events are going on in the area. For example, take a picture of the SIU football game, and encourage other students to go, or tell them that the game is slow and it's not worth it. Or you can take a picture of a particular food you ordered at a local restaurant and say how tasty it is. I would rather see a pizza visually rather than hear it in words.

Please provide a description of your App in 500-1,000 words. Be sure to include at least 1) what it does, 2) why people will want it (benefits), and 3) how you will sustain it (explain business model).

1) Like I said before, O!NK is going to be a social media app. In a basic sense, it is a mix of two popular apps, Snapchat and Yik Yak. You open the app, and it takes you to the app's camera page, where you can snap a picture or record a video up to 7 seconds long. After, you can upload it to the area's database. You can set how far you want people to see your oinks, or how far you want to see other peoples oinks, ranging from 1-7 miles. (Once again to clarify, an oink(s) is a picture or video someone recorded and uploaded).

2) Before we start at why people want it, look at Snapchat or Yik Yak. Two very big apps, that is purely for amusement. And that what my app is for, amusement. It is very simple to navigate. Everything is anonymous, so there is no signing up or registering. Obviously if you put your face in the picture or video, it gives the anonymity away. Many college students, or just people in general, get bored, so they resort to their electronic devices for enjoyment. It would be cool to see pictures or videos of what people are doing around you, whether that be attending a sports game, at a party, chilling in the dorms, doing something funny, you get the idea. Anything worth sharing.

3) As for the sustainability of the app, the app will run off Java code. Obviously, I will need to have servers of some kind to hold the pictures or videos, which only last 12 hours by the way. I will be using Google's app engine to store all the data, and they have data storage for really cheap. To pay for that, every 10 pictures or videos you swipe through, you will see an ad. (Swipe to exit the ad) That ad will pay me the money to keep the app running and to pay the dues for Google app engine.
